Emotional Skills & More

Caring for animals in the classroom allows students to develop a range of emotional skills. It provides opportunities for children to form bonds with animals by showing empathy and understanding their needs. This emotional connection fosters a sense of belonging, as children learn to care for and comfort animals, subsequently gaining a deeper understanding of their own emotions. The presence of animals in the classroom can boost children's cognitive development. Observing and caring for animals can stimulate curiosity and critical thinking skills. Our students learn about different species, their habitats, and biological functions, fostering an appreciation for the natural world.

Our lovely Linda

Linda is our lovely turtle who has been apart of our Kindergarten class for over a year now. Her previous care taker loved how attentive the children were with her and left her in our care. The children have created a bond with Linda and love the responsibility it takes to care for her!

Our friendly Fish

Our 3 fish, Dori, Rosalinda, and Nemo live in the Middles’ room. They have been apart of BCCA for 3 years now and have left their mark on all of our students as they have been apart of our journey and have taught our children how important it is to care for something you love.
